Carl Kingsford

Biography
Dr. Kingsford's work is developing novel machine learning and algorithmic approaches to solve key data analysis problems in transcriptomics and genomics. He and his groups have developed new algorithmic techniques for quantifying gene expression, detecting genomic mutations, predicting protein function, modeling regulatory pathways, improving transcript assembly, among other problems. He and his collaborators have developed several widely-used bioinformatics analysis software packages, especially in the area of gene expression. He has co authored over 90 scientific publications. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Princeton University in 2005.

Using The Transcriptome Intelligently For Drug Development
Unlocking the transcriptome provides new routes for identifying druggable targets, assessing candidates, repurposing drugs, and precision medicine. I will describe an AI-driven approach for using the transcriptome in these tasks and give case studies where it has been used successfully.
