Speaker Profile

Ph.D., Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Section Head for Cancer Data Science, OHSU

Biography
Dr. Jeremy Goecks leads a research program focused on the intersection of biomedical data science, high-performance computing, and precision oncology. Dr. Goecks is the Computational Biology Research Lead for the Knight Cancer Institute’s Precision Oncology program. In this role, he and his team develop computational methods for precision oncology that integrate clinical, imaging, and omics data to predict tumor response to therapies and identify molecular mechanisms that tumors use to adapt and become resistant to therapies. He is principal investigator for an NCI Cancer Moonshot Center in the Human Tumor Atlas Network (https://humantumoratlas.org) that is generating and analyzing molecular tumor atlases using single-cell omics and imaging assays applied to longitudinal biopsies. Dr. Goecks is also a principal investigator for the Galaxy platform (http://galaxyproject.org), a computational workbench used daily by thousands of scientists across the world.
