Biography
Suchi Saria is a highly respected computer scientist and healthcare researcher who currently serves as the John C. Malone endowed chair and professor in the Departments of Computer Science, Medicine, Health Policy and Management at Johns Hopkins University. She is also the founding director of the Machine Learning, AI and Healthcare Lab at Johns Hopkins, where she leads a team of researchers dedicated to using machine learning and AI to improve healthcare outcomes.
Professor Saria is known for her outstanding contributions to the precision medicine field through the development of AI algorithms and systems for clinical decision-making. Her work in predicting patient deterioration and providing personalized treatment recommendations has had a significant impact on patient care in critical care settings. For her contributions to the field of AI, machine learning and healthcare, Professor Saria has received various awards and honors.
In addition to her research, Saria is a committed educator and mentor, teaching courses in machine learning, data science, and healthcare, and supervising numerous graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. She is also actively involved in promoting diversity and inclusion in STEM fields.
Outside of her academic work, Professor Saria is a co-founder of Bayesian Health, a startup that aims to improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare costs through the use of AI and machine learning.
