Danielle Ciofani is the senior director of data strategy and partnerships in the Data Sciences Platform (DSP) at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. Ciofani oversees the team responsible for bringing together the intersection of scientific projects and technical infrastructure, ensuring the DSP's software and machine learning tools successfully support hundreds of scientific projects and collaborations worldwide.Ciofanis experience facilitating successful collaborations stems from numerous roles serving healthcare provider, insurance, and life sciences organizations. Prior to her work in DSP, Ciofani was a data strategist and clinical informaticist at Optum (UnitedHealth Group). There, she designed, built, and grew the largest integrated realworld database (RWD) of clinical and claims data. Prior to this, she served as a technical architect in interface and interoperability design for large healthcare provider systems.Danielle graduated with a bachelors degree in biomedical engineering from Case Western Reserve University (Ohio).
Session Abstract – PMWC 2024 Silicon Valley
Track Chair:
- William Oh, Mount Sinai
Patient-centric data – Real-World Evidence (RWE) and Real-World Data (RWD) - is becoming instrumental in the drug development process and for health care decisions in general. This data is not only informative for the process from discovery to new indications, clinical trial design, and drug development, it also can be of value to monitor post-marketing drug safety and for decision support in clinical practice. As the data becomes a decision driver, science companies and medical organizations are increasingly focused on leveraging RWD and RWE to not only better understand the patient populations using their drugs and the respective outcomes, but also to accelerate clinical decision support. This session will focus on the various aspects of integrating RWE and RWD to support drug development and clinical decision support.
