VP Business Development, Sophia Genetics

Esteban Czwan is a dynamic business executive experienced in different areas related to clinical genomics, including Business Development, Product Management, and Customer Support. Before joining Sophia Genetics in 2015, Esteban worked for Roche Diagnostics where he was responsible for next-generation sequencing support and third-party analytical solutions. Esteban did research work at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg developing predictive models of tumor progression and therapy response. Esteban obtained his Master’s Degree in Bioinformatics from Cardiff University and his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Springfield.


How AI Will Humanize Clinical Diagnostics
When hospitals and laboratories regroup to securely share information within clinical genomics communities, they create a precious collective knowledge that can be leveraged thanks to artificial intelligence technologies in order to spot pathogenic mutations’ in patients’ genomic profiles. Such trends are currently spreading worldwide and consequently democratizing data driven medicine.

Session Abstract

Session Synopsis: Several important, recently launched government initiatives have as a central focus disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. This session will provide a broad update on these initiatives, but will also focus on the technical challenges and potential solutions of precision medicine in the near and longer term which includes vision of precision medicine analytics and big data and the integration of wearables and everyday tech.
